Borka: The Opera brings together the fabulous story, characters, and illustrations of John Burningham’s picture book Borka: The Adventures of a Goose with No Feathers, the exquisite writing of Tim Yealland (Libretto) and Russell Hepplewhite (Music), alongside Ignite Music’s magical new production.

Be transported to the marshes on the East Coast of England and meet Borka and her family. Experience Mr and Mrs Plumpster’s joy at the birth of their goslings, Dr Goose’s shocking revelation, Borka’s attempts to fit in with her brothers and sisters, despite her differences, and her desolation when her family fly south for the winter and she is left behind. Travel with her as she takes her destiny into her own wings, and embarks on a journey of discovery, true friendship, and a forever home…

The story of Borka, the need to be accepted for who you are and find where you belong, resonates as much today as it did when the book was published in 1963. What better way to celebrate 60 years of Borka: The Adventures of a Goose with no Feathers than with this very special opera based on Burningham's picture book. Suitable for (Foundation & Key Stage 1) children aged 5 – 8 years and their families. Please note a haze machine will be used during this performance
