About
The Ardhowen is proud to welcome internationally renowned pianist Barry Douglas for a captivating evening of world-class music.
Since winning the prestigious Gold Medal at the 1986 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow, Barry has built a distinguished global career, performing with leading orchestras such as the London Symphony, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and Sydney Symphony.
A proud advocate for Irish music and culture, Barry is the Artistic Director of Camerata Ireland and founder of the Clandeboye Festival, continuing to champion emerging talent across the island. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to music and community relations, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2021.
Equally at home as a soloist, chamber musician, and conductor, Barry’s recent highlights include collaborations with the Borodin String Quartet, and performances in prestigious venues from Wigmore Hall to the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. He is also a strong voice for contemporary music, premiering works by Kevin Volans and Krzysztof Penderecki.
