Book Launch: Stench by Trish Bennett
With special guest harpist Ursula Burns
Join us for an unforgettable evening of poetry, music, and laughter as Trish Bennett launches her bold and brilliant debut collection, Stench. A celebrated performer and award-winning writer, Bennett brings her razor-sharp wit, lyrical voice, and unflinching honesty to the stage—offering a fresh take on borderland life, family chaos, and finding humour even in the darkest places.
Raised on the North Leitrim–Fermanagh border during the Troubles, Bennett’s work straddles the personal and political, the ridiculous and the sublime.
Stench is packed with vibrant storytelling, laced with borderland slang, and powered by the rhythm of lived experience. Expect poems that will make you howl with laughter, catch your breath with sorrow, and leave you thinking long after the final line.
Bennett will be introduced by renowned poet and teacher from Sion Mills; Maureen Boyle. Maureen is not only a masterful poet but also a gifted teacher and mentor, known for nurturing voices in Irish literature. Her critical eye and poetic sensibility make her uniquely placed to speak about Trish Bennett’s work.
The evening will also feature acclaimed harpist Ursula Burns, adding a magical musical layer to this rich celebration of language, resilience, and borderland spirit.
This is a free event, and all are welcome. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
