When basketball star Troy Bolton meets the clever and talented Gabriella Montez, their unexpected decision to audition for the school musical shakes up the social order at East High. As the Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians, and Skater Dudes struggle to break free from the “status quo,” friendships are tested, confidence is discovered, and everyone learns that being yourself is worth singing about.
