Billed as Ireland’s funniest comedy – The Knocks Drama Group bring The Real McCoy by Irish Playwright Tommy Marren to the Ardhowen stage.
The play follows Madge Molloy (a single mum in her 60’s) over a two day period in the Spring of 1964.Madge has raised her daughter Maura alone since her husband Tom disappeared without a trace over 40 years ago.
Madge firmly believes she is better off without Tom, and has become cold and bitter towards men, causing conflict when Maura falls in love with the local postman.However, this is the least of her worries as new curate to the parish – Father Michael McCoy – has arrived in town and is able to shed some light on the mystery surrounding her absent husband…Tom is coming back and wants to meet!
Along with this, Madge has two of the nosiest neighbours, Cora and Nora O’Hora to cope with, who always seem to cause more conflict.
This truly hilarious play is a rollercoaster of emotions, packed with witty one liners, a nostalgic trip back in time and feisty characters.
