About

Fermanagh born musicians, Andrew Irwin, tenor and Gareth Knox, pianist, will join forces to present an evening of song in the classical genre including Beethoven, Faure and Schubert.

Andrew, who studied at the Chetham’s School of music and then the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, is primarily based in Germany where he performs opera, operetta and musicals. He says he always looks forward to returning home to perform in his native Fermanagh. He last performed for Music in Fermanagh in 2018 but his most recent performance with Gareth was for |FLive Arts Festival, a truly memorable evening featuring songs by artists like Sinatra, Nat King Cole and well known jazz standards.

Gareth first made his mark as a talented pianist at a local level at Fermanagh Feis, Portadown music festival and as winner of Enniskillen Young Musician of the Yearand later Dublin Feis Ceoil after which he went on to study in both Dublin at the Royal |Irish Academy of Music and the then the Royal College of Music London where he graduated with BMus (Hons) in 2001.

Since then, he has performed in ensembles, as a soloist and as an accompanist in various venues in London and Paris notably at the London Handel Festival in St George’s, Hanover Square, and on tour at La Madeleine in Paris and the Cathedrals in Chartres and Verona. Recently he has returned home after 25 years of experience as recitalist, chamber musician and accompanist and is now working as a piano teacher, freelance musician, and church organist. He is currently accompanist to Fermanagh Choral Society, and EA Music, plays organ in local churches for Darling Street Methodist and St. Michael’s Church, Enniskillen.

Music in Fermanagh is looking forward to presenting Andrew and Gareth in what will be a superb evening of quality music making.
